The Kingdom of Cambodia is a sovereign state located in the southern part of the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is 181,035 sqkm-wide (69,898 square miles), bordered by Thailand to the Northwest, Laos to the Northeast, Vietnam to the East and the Gulf of Thailand to the Southwest. Cambodia has a population of over 15 million people.
Cambodia is the 69th largest export economy in the world.
Cambodia’s exports are dominated by textile. Other export products include vehicles, footwear, natural rubber and fish.
Cambodia’s main export partners are the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Germany and the UK. France remains Europe’s leading trading partner with Cambodia.
French exports are based on food products, ahead of pharmaceuticals, when imports are almost exclusively from the clothing and textile sectors, followed by food.
France is more firmly established in Cambodia than any other Western countries. Its economic presence is based both on investments from major companies and many SMEs created by French businessmen.
