SINGAPORE

The Republic of Singapore is a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. Singapore is 717 sqkm-wide, with a population of around 5,607 million people in 2016. Its territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets.

Singapore is a global commerce, finance and transports hub. It has the largest port in Southeast Asia, one of the busiest in the world, and the 20th largest export economy in the world.

Machinery, integrated circuits, computers and refined petroleum products are its top major sectors.

China, the United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan are Singapore’s principal trading partners.

It has been recognized as the most "technology-ready" nation (WEF), top international-meetings city (UIA), city with "best investment potential" (BERI), world's smartest city, world's safest country, third-most competitive country, third-largest foreign exchange market, third-largest financial center, third-largest oil refining and trading center.

France is also an active contributor of Singapore’s economy, as its third-leading trading partner in Asia and its leading trading partner in the Southeast Asian region.

Singapore is the second destination of French investments in Asia, after Japan. The country is an important regional platform for French companies. Singapore plays host to more than 400 French company sites (mainly in the electronics, chemistry and financial services industries) and over 40 companies that have been founded locally.

In this context Simon Associés entered into a strategic alliance agreement with DFDL law firm.

DFDL was formed in 1994 by four founding partners. The firm was founded with the unique vision to be the first leading international law firm specialized in emerging markets with pan-regional legal and tax expertise throughout the Mekong Region, now extended to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

DFDL’s team is composed of over 140 advisers and more than 300 staff members providing expertise to their clients in areas such as Banking and Finance, Corporate and Commercial, Energy, Mining and Infrastructure, Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate and Construction, and Taxation.

DFDL is to be the preeminent integrated Legal and Tax Law firm based in Southeast Asia with a reputation for technical excellence, creativity, and integrity.

DFDL is consistently ranked as one of the top law firms in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific: Cambodia and Lao PDR, Leading Firms 2018, Project Finance International, Thomson Reuters: Asia-Pacific Power Deal of the Year 2018, and 2018 Financial Times Innovative: Accessing New Markets and Capital.
